Sometimes, being a few inches shorter than the majority of your friends can cause a real blow to your confidence. In today’s world, looks are everything – and being tall is regularly seen as something that is attractive and even a requirement for being successful, whether it’s in your career, with relationships, or other parts of your life. Often, people can be cruel to others who aren’t very tall, and growing up shorter than everyone else can often lead to being bullied in school and sometimes even as you develop into an adult. All of this can soon leave you with confidence problems and low self-esteem which can lead to issues in other areas of your life.

Brushing off Negativity

When you are short, you soon begin to get used to people making jokes about it. Even if they are meant in good humor, some jokes can often hurt you more than you let on. However, it’s also good to see the funny side of things, and if you can make the jokes first, you definitely should. Making the jokes yourself allows you to take control of the situation and turn any possible negativity into something which is funny and positive, instead. Not only that, but being able to joke and not take yourself too seriously will show that you have a good sense of humor, which people will like you for – regardless of your height.

Dress for Confidence

Just because you are short, there’s no reason at all why you should have to look short. In fact, the way that you dress can create a whole range of optical illusions which will leave people gasping in surprise should the ever learn about your true height. Certain fashion styles such as wearing monochrome colors, keeping darker colors on the bottom of your body and lighter ones on top, avoiding longline tops and short sleeves and even sporting a shirt that has a vertical stripe pattern can all lengthen your body and make you look taller, making your lack of height less noticeable and giving you the confidence boost that you need.

Carry Yourself with Confidence

If you are suffering from a lack of self-esteem and confidence, you may be carrying yourself in a way that only accentuates your lack of height, resulting in things being even worse for you. If you walk around hunched over or shrinking into yourself due to a lack of confidence, you will look even smaller and shorter, and your biggest problem will be even more noticeable to others. Instead, learn to fix your posture by standing up straight and holding your shoulders back and head up high. You’ll be surprised at just how many inches this can add on to you, and you might even get asked if you have grown! Remember, confidence is the most attractive trait that you can have, no matter how tall – or short – you are.

Even if you haven’t been blessed with height, there’s no reason why you can’t make yourself look ten feet tall by being super confident.
